About pigeons
Pigeons belong to the same family as doves and are sometimes described as one and in some cases the name is interchangeable for both. They belong to a family called the Columbidae that is within the order of Columbiformes. This is the family that includes near three hundred possible kinds of birds and hence is one of the biggest one can find. The name dove and pigeon is used according to size variation. The smaller birds are called dove and the bigger ones are called pigeons.

However there is no particular connection to that fact because in some areas they are both referred to as squabs. These are usually found in the areas of Indomalaya and Australasia eco zones. The physique of pigeons can be described as short. They are very stout animals meaning their bodies are very short and they have short necks to go with it.

They have slender bills and have a fleshy cere. These are the pigeons that are common in many cities. Pigeons usually build their nest the same way as doves do. They make their nest from sticks and other forms of debris. These are made in the upper parts of the trees or even on ledges however this depends on the type of species they are of pigeons. Pigeons tend to lay around one or two eggs at one time and after they are born both the mother and the father tend to look after the little ones.

This way they tend to divide their duties equally. When the mother stays to look after the young ones the father goes out to hunt and while the mother to hunt the father tends to feed the kids and look after them because during the first twenty eight days since the baby bird is born they need to be cared.
