They do this as they use magnetic particles that are present in their beaks to feel the sense of direction through the magnetic particles. They do this to break the planet's magnetic field and through that they create a map for themselves of the field to navigate back and forth from their homes.

They sometimes even use the sense of small even do that job. Pigeons tend to travel in flocks of twenty thirty and they feel comfortable that way and protective too. The male and female make a very productive form of lifestyle for each other by helping out one and other. When baby birds are born the male and female take turns looking after them. First they keep turns at keeping the egg warm and after wards too.
