The egg in order to develop would need heat from the pigeons bodies to develop. This heat is supplied during the the twenty one days period and is known as the incubation period. Therefore during the incubation period the pigeons would sit on the eggs simultaneously by each partner taking their respective turns during the twenty fours day period.
Usually the female pigeons would sit on the eggs throughout the night and early hours of the morning whereas the male pigeon would come and sit on the eggs during the day time. As the incubation period ends and the eggs are completely developed they hatch brooding little pigeons. The pigeons would require instant feeding and milk is fed to them by the female pigeon. As time passes both the male and female pigeons starts taking care of the new born pigeons and after the initial feeding of the milk they would start feeding the small pigeons with grains and other foodstuff.
Proper care is given by the parent pigeons to their new born and these babies are kept in the nest for around four weeks until they grow. As the growing period matures the baby pigeons are ready to fly and then leave the nest to make their own nest and find partners to mate and continue the pigeon lifecycle.
